Helen Levi in Williamsburg

Where did you grow up?
East Village, NYC

What do you do for a living?
I’m a production ceramicist.

How did you get started?
I’ve always done pottery as a hobby, and worked as a teacher, but I started selling my work almost a year ago.

What’s your favorite thing about your neighborhood?

How convenient it is. And also that at any time of night I feel safe walking around. It’s very luxurious!

What’s the last treasure you found?
I just found a necklace my parents gave me when I graduated from elementary school in the pocket of a dress I put on; I was certain it was lost! Now I’ll never take it off.

If you were going to eat your last meal in New York, where and what would you eat?
I’d eat at New York Sushi Ko because I made the dishes used there. And because the sushi is crazy good.

If you could have a sleepover with anyone who has ever existed, who would it be?
Gilda Radner.

If your life was a TV show, what would be the theme song?
Trick Daddy, “I’m a Thug.” Just kidding! Probably Fleetwood Mac, “Dreams.”

What does New York need that it doesn’t have now?
Affordable rent!
